Bigger is not always better. – The 42-year-old Italian manager Thiago Motta has experienced that. Juventus signed him from Atalanta last summer after he led their Serie A rivals to Champions League qualification. A feat they seem to be repeating this year.
Juventus are down to 5th place after two straight losses. – The old lady is not going to sit and watch the Champions League qualification slip away and as this is being written, Juventus are sitting with Thiago Motta and agreeing on the end of the employment relationship.

A few minutes ago, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote that Juventus will sack Thiago Motta as manager and replace him with Igor Tudor until the end of the season.
“Igor Tudor, prepared to fly to Turin as soon as Juventus will inform Thiago Motta of their decision to sack him.”

Big things were expected of Motta when he was appointed Max Allegri’s successor last summer. – Motta had had a historic season with Bologna, leading the team to qualification for the Champions League for the first time in six decades.
However, Motta’s time at Juventus has been an unresolved disaster. With nine games left in Serie A, Juventus are in fifth place in Serie A and are struggling to qualify for the Champions League.
They were dumped out of this season’s Champions League by PSV in the play-offs and were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by relegation-threatened Empoli at home in the quarter-finals.
Motta has struggled to incorporate a number of Juve’s big money signings from last summer. Teun Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz and Nico Gonzalez cost around €150 million combined and have all been huge flops.
Juventus have struggled to create and score goals all season, while in recent games they have also carried a lot of goals. His relationship with the dressing room and the media has also been questioned.
The last straw for the Juventus management came in the last two matchdays when they were beaten 4-0 at home by Atalanta and 3-0 away to Fiorentina. Motta will be replaced by former Juventus defender Tudor until the end of the season, with the possibility of a new season.
Tudor played for Juve from 1998 to 2007, winning several trophies. He was also assistant manager in Turin for Andrea Pirlo in the 2020-21 season.
