At the end of season three, PR expert and former model Keeley Jones pitched the idea to club owner Rebecca Welton for AFC Richmond to form a women’s team at Nelson Road. Ted Lasso had just returned home to be with his son at the same time as there were hints of a reconciliation with his ex-wife.
Richmond was in good hands, with Roy Kent as manager, Rebecca Welton randomly met the Dutch pilot she was captivated by in Amsterdam and Coach Beard got married. In short, a perfect ending to the series where all loose ends were spun together except for the question of whether Ted Lasso would be happy with his wife again.
Now it is clear that there will be a season four, where Ted Lasso will return and become the women’s coach.
Speculation has been raging since the fall of 2024 regarding a potential return to Apple TV+ streaming services for the lovable American tactician. He seemed to have stepped away from the lead when he broke ties with AFC Richmond at the end of an eventful stay in England in the last series.
However, there were always different directions that the show could be taken in, and a “reboot” for 2025 is being planned. New characters and storylines are reportedly ready to be unveiled by Lasso star and writer Jason Sudeikis.
It has been claimed that production on a fourth series has been set for a start date in the spring or early summer, with leading members of the cast and crew already airing their excitement about reprising award-winning roles.
According to showbiz insider ‘MyTimeToShineHello’, Ted Lasso will be brought back to the small screen as he is “now a women’s football coach”. The dramatic shift will leave the door open for a return to Richmond.
Before the next season of Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis will be the voice of “Red” in Angri Birds Movie 3.
